Job Summary
Veterinary Technician at Petco Vetco Total Care hospital providing comprehensive patient care and client service. Responsibilities include greeting and examining patients, recording medical histories, assisting veterinarians with routine and emergency procedures, anesthesia induction and monitoring, performing laboratory work, administering medications, preparing patients for procedures, maintaining medical records and inventory, educating clients, handling accounts payable/receivable tasks, scheduling, and contributing to a collaborative hospital team. Requires college-level education and credentialed veterinary technician status with at least 1 year of prior experience, effective communication, compassion, and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- College or college-equivalent education
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the applicable state
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Compassionate and professional demeanor
- Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments
- Strong computer and telephone skills
- Ability to work with clients and pets in a hospital setting
- Comfort with handling animals and providing medical treatments as directed by veterinarians
