Job Summary
Control vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic in work zones using hand signals and a STOP/SLOW paddle. Set up, maintain, and remove advance warning signs and channelizing devices per Federal, State, and Local guidelines. Coordinate with customers to ensure worker safety and drive company vehicles to transport equipment and team members. Maintain effective radio communication with on-site team members and notify supervisors of potential safety issues. Provide on-the-job training and coaching to new protectors. This safety-sensitive role requires Traffic Control Technician certification or 2,000+ verifiable hours, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions. Mandatory out-of-town assignments average 2 weeks to 2 months.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years old
- Safety sensitive position
- Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification or 2000+ verifiable hours
- High School Diploma or GED completion
- Must be able to follow safe workplace practices
- Valid Driver's License void of suspension or revocation
- Must be able to read and write English
- Good Communication skills
- Valid AZ Driver's License with a motor vehicle report that meets company guidelines
- Mandatory out of town work averaging 2 weeks- 2 months
- Must be able to successfully handle the physical demands of this position
- Position lifts or carries objects up to 50 pounds
- Stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
- Position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
- Hours of operation may vary due to staffing needs
- Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles
- Frequent exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites including high noise level in the work environment
- The position may work in outside conditions that include inclement weather, not limited to heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience preferred in temporary traffic control services, utility industry, or construction industry preferred
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems
- 1 year Construction experience preferred
