Job Summary
Conduct therapeutic recreation evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for patients admitted to Moody Neurorehabilitation. Deliver age-appropriate recreation activities that address social, mental, emotional, and physical needs, while utilizing adaptive equipment to increase functional independence. Coordinate interdisciplinary rounds, team meetings, and individual program plan discussions to incorporate carry-over goals. Plan and coordinate patient outings, including evening and weekend programming, directing Therapeutic Assistants activities as needed. Complete daily and monthly documentation, discharge summaries, and resource recommendations within designated periods. Design and supervise the therapeutic recreation internship program, assist with staff training, and maintain relationships with community agencies for volunteer placements. Uphold organizational policies and CARF standards while ensuring strict confidentiality of client data.

- Ability to develop and implement treatment strategies
- Ability to deliver age-appropriate recreation activities
- Ability to complete daily notes and monthly notes
- Ability to participate in interdisciplinary rounds, team meetings and IPP meetings
- Ability to communicate effectively with team, patient, and family
- Ability to plan for discharge
- Ability to recommend appropriate equipment and locate resources
- Ability to complete discharge summary, recommendations and provide resources
- Ability to follow and implement strategies as developed by interdisciplinary treatment team
- Ability to assist in day-to-day operation of Therapeutic Recreation department
- Ability to design and implement therapeutic recreation internship program
- Ability to provide supervision to therapeutic recreation students
- Ability to assist with staff training
- Ability to carry out duties in accordance with Moody Neuro organizational policies, CARF, HHSC, and other accrediting bodies
- Ability to plan and coordinate patient outings which may include evenings and weekends
- Ability to coordinate and direct Therapeutic Assistants activities and duties during outings and evening modules
