Job Summary
Conduct activity assessments through patient observation and interviews to develop individualized treatment plans. Plan, organize, and implement therapeutic leisure programs including sports, dance, music, and art sessions to improve patient mental and physical well-being. Facilitate activity groups and community outings while instructing patients in relaxation techniques and social skills to foster independence. Modify interventions to meet specific patient needs and resolve complaints with a positive, empathetic attitude, prioritizing patient safety. Requires CTRS certification, bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation, and three years of healthcare experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field
- Three or more years' experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or currently in the process of obtaining national certification
- certified in the area of specialty (Art, Dance, Music, etc.)
- clinical professional licensure (LCPC, LPC, etc.) with certification in expressive therapy area
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification

- Previous experience in recreation in a healthcare setting
