Job Summary
Conduct assessments to determine clients' leisure interests, functional abilities, and therapeutic needs, then plan, implement, and evaluate individualized and group therapeutic recreation interventions tailored to clients with brain injuries and neurological conditions. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop person-centered care plans, document client participation and outcomes per organizational standards, and provide education on leisure skills and community resources. Facilitate adaptive cycling programs, community outings, and social events while maintaining a safe, supportive environment and providing crisis intervention as needed. Provide ongoing support, guidance, and role modeling to foster independence, consult with the clinical team on individual status, and mentor staff. Work with the Director to oversee program quality improvement, develop curriculum, and supervise candidates pursuing CTRS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Current certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)
- Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a larger resource team
- Strong computer and technology skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's license
- Access to an operational and insured vehicle
- Willingness to use vehicle to transport clients
- Comfortability driving a wheelchair accessible van
- Ability to load, secure, and unload individuals with and without mobility devices
