Job Summary
Create a safe, child-centered classroom environment that fosters active exploration, curiosity, and positive self-esteem. Develop age-appropriate weekly lesson plans and monthly calendars, while managing classroom discipline through redirection and positive reinforcement. Provide activities during aftercare programs and supervise teacher aides as needed. Communicate daily with parents via share sheets and conferences, reporting parental concerns, accidents, or signs of abuse to the Educational Director or Social Worker. Collect data twice weekly on measurable goals and proficiency in easy IEP. Purchase small supplies through petty cash and collaborate with outside agencies to improve program quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
- two year degree with coursework towards early childhood education or related fields
- two years of college with six or more hours in early childhood education
- certification from a Child Development Associate Credentializing Program (CDA)
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- HIV Course
- CPR
- 40 Hours Child-care Course
- Annual 10 hour In-Service Trainings
- A Confidentiality Agreement
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
