Job Summary
Prepare the operating room by sterilizing, setting up equipment, and assembling instruments for surgical procedures. Anticipate surgeon needs by selecting correct instrument pans, requesting special supplies, and passing instruments during cases. Maintain sterile technique and perform initial and closing counts on instruments, sharps, and sponges. Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization, assist with OR suite setup, and manage equipment maintenance. Work full-time or part-time day hours Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent from an accredited school
- Certification (CST) within 1 year of program completion
- Mass experience prior to July 2013
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience as a surgical technician
- Currently holds American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) or AHA approved equivalent (or obtains within three (3) months of hire)
- Lift 10 lbs. box overhead
- Lift and carry 15 lbs
- Push/pull 20 lbs. cart
- Lift and carry 25-35 lbs
- Push/pull 50-100 lbs
- Lift and carry 40-50 lbs
- Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs
- Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs
- Lift over 50 lbs
- Carry 80 lbs. a distance of 30 feet
- Push/pull > 200 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in Ambulatory Surgery or Outpatient Surgery
- Experience scrubbing in on variety of cases (orthopedic, plastics, general, and urology)
- Experience in Sterile Processing Department
- Great team player
