Job Summary
Prepare for surgical procedures by collecting supplies, opening sterile items, and setting up the operating room table. Assist the surgical team during operative cases, maintain instrument counts, and handle specimens under direction. Clean and prepare rooms between procedures, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed and breaches are corrected immediately. Complete annual mandatory education and participate in quality improvement activities. Model Prisma Health behavior expectations and assist with coaching, mentoring, and training new team members. This role supports patient care before, during, and after surgery while complying with sterilization standards and legal aspects of patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Surgical Technologist training in the U.S. Armed Forces
- U.S. Dept of Labor Apprenticeship Program for Surgical Technologists
- Certified as CST (Certified Surgical Tech) through NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting)
- Certified as TS-C (Tech in Surgery) through NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
- Maintains surgical technology certification
- Ability to complete 15 hours of mandatory ST education annually
