Job Summary
Prepare sterile supplies and equipment for surgical procedures and perform room duties involved with direct patient care under general supervision. Adhere to established procedural guidelines while providing care appropriate to patient development levels and considering family needs. Maintain CST certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting and hold current AHA or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification. Work 40 hours per week as a member of the operating room team at MUSC Florence.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or surgical technology military program
- Credentialed as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (formerly LCC-ST)
- CST credential must be maintained
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- Ability to work under general supervision
- Ability to function as a member of the operating room team
- Ability to prepare sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures
- Ability to perform appropriate room duties involved with direct patient care
- Adherence to established procedural guidelines
- Knowledge and skills required to provide care and/or service appropriate to the level of development of patients
- Consideration of the needs of patients' families
- Ability to work with energetic enthusiastic individuals
