Job Summary
Facilitate operative procedures by preparing sterile instruments, organizing supplies, and maintaining the sterile field while assisting the surgical team as the scrub person. Perform surgical counts with the circulating RN, retrieve and label specimens, and report implanted devices or drains. Prepare surgical skin prep and clipping, insert urinary catheters as required, and assist with pre- and post-procedure room cleaning. Maintain aseptic technique, demonstrate knowledge of patient rights and advance directives, and provide CPR assistance as needed. Work rotating days/afternoons shifts with on-call availability, ensuring cost-conscious resource utilization and participating in ongoing competency verification and patient safety measures.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C)
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- BLS Basic Life Support
- Associate degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology
- One year of perioperative, operating room, or related military surgical technology experience
- American Heart Association BLS certification prior to independent patient care
- Knowledge of AORN and AST Recommendations

- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
