Job Summary
As a Certified Surgical Technologist, the role involves anticipating the needs of the surgeon and keeping the circulating nurse informed during procedures. The technologist assembles supplies, equipment, and medications, maintains aseptic technique, monitors infection control, and supports satisfaction activities with physicians and staff. They supervise other healthcare team members, participate in orientation and training of new personnel, promote a safe operating room environment, and assist with efficient turnover times. The position requires up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments, regulatory requirements, PPE usage, and strong communication and organizational skills. Licenses and certifications required include BLS and CST (or NTSC), with additional preferred education in surgical technology and 1+ years of experience.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR Technician in Surgery - Certified (NTSC) [Required]
- Associate Degree in Surgical Technology (preferred)
- High School Grad or Equiv (Required)
- 1+ years experience in surgical technology (preferred)
- Work experience in operating room and sterile processing
- Ability to supervise and train staff
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and infection control practices
