Job Summary
Certified Surgical Technologist supports the surgeon by anticipating needs and keeping the circulating nurse informed during procedures. Responsibilities include assembling supplies and equipment, maintaining aseptic technique, monitoring infection control practices, following regulatory standards, and assisting with room turnover and turnover times. The role involves supervising other team members, assisting with orientation and training of new personnel, and providing support to the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient operations. Must have CST or equivalent certification pathways, BLS/CPR, and relevant clinical experience; the work is performed in a full-time, day shift operating room setting at AdventHealth in Central Texas.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification
- State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) OR Technician in Surgery TS-C (NCCT)
- Associate degree in Surgical Technology or equivalent (preferred)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of technical experience in the field (preferred)
- 1+ years relevant experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of aseptic/sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and laws at various jurisdictional levels
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work effectively with multiple team members
- Flexible schedule and adaptability to change
- Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
