Job Summary
Prepare surgical cases by creating sterile fields, retracting instruments, and passing supplies to surgeons during procedures. Check required equipment prior to cases, assemble operative instrumentation, and maintain neat sterile fields demonstrating aseptic technique. Collect data on assigned cases, complete instrument counts with the Registered Nurse, and transport patients according to unit schedules. Clean equipment and facilities as necessary while performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Education/GED or equivalent
- Certified Surgery Technician (CST) certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) or Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (NCCT-ST)
- Recent open-heart or cardiothoracic experience
- All required vaccinations
- E-Verify participation
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
- Scrub technician experience
- Operating room experience and/or training course
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
