Certified Surgical Technician, CVOR

Prepare surgical cases by creating and maintaining sterile fields, retracting and passing instruments, and supplying medications to surgeons. Accurately check required supplies and equipment prior to each case, assemble operative instrumentation, and set up sterile fields demonstrating careful aseptic technique. Perform sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse, collect data based on Performance Standards of Care, and clean equipment and facilities as necessary. Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities while completing assigned clerical duties. Requires a Certified Surgery Technician (CST) certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, and recent open-heart or cardiothoracic experience.
