Job Summary
Prepare surgical cases by creating and maintaining sterile fields, retracting and passing instruments, and supplying medications to surgeons during procedures. Accurately check required supplies and equipment, assemble operative instrumentation, and set up sterile fields demonstrating careful aseptic technique. Complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse, collect case data based on Performance Standards of Care, and clean equipment and facilities. Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities while performing clerical duties and other job-related tasks as assigned. Requires Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, and recent open-heart or cardiothoracic experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Education/GED or equivalent
- Certified Surgery Technician (CST) certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) or Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (NCCT-ST)
- All required vaccinations
- Acknowledge E-Verify Participation and Right to Work notices
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
- Scrub technician experience
- Operating room experience and/or training course
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Recent open-heart or cardiothoracic experience
