Job Summary
Facilitate safe invasive surgical procedures by scrubbing, setting up sterile tables, and passing instruments to the surgeon during operations. Prepare patients for surgery through site washing, shaving, and disinfection, while operating various medical equipment in the operating room. Account for needles, instruments, and sponges, and assist with terminal cleaning and specimen packaging for laboratory analysis. Maintain inventory levels, order supplies, and manage equipment service contracts. Transport patients to the recovery room and participate in quality assessment activities. Adhere to RRSC policies, safety regulations, and mandatory education programs. Work in a medical office or Ambulatory Surgery Center environment from 07:30 to 15:30 M-F, with some weekends, requiring the ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift patients.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate or associate's degree in surgical technology
- Two or more years of related experience
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged period of time
- Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, twist and stretch
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, etc.
- Must be able to lift, pull, and push with assistance of one other person, the weight of the average patient
- Must be able to work as scheduled—typically from 07:30 to 15:30 M-F, and some weekends
