Job Summary
Certified Surgical Tech in a Float Pool role supporting Surgical Services. Responsibilities include ensuring safety and efficiency of complex surgical procedures, preparing the surgical suite and ensuring sterility of drapes, solutions, and instruments; handing instruments to the surgeon and anticipating needs; assisting in patient preparation, transport, and positioning; maintaining a safe, organized sterile field and accurate instrument counts for patient safety. Requires BLS within 30 days and recognized CST credentials (NCCT or NBSTSA) within defined timeframes; education may be satisfied by High School equivalency with experience or an Associate/Technical degree or equivalent experience. The role emphasizes scrub duties, instrument handling, sterile technique, and adaptability across multiple market locations within Ascension’s Surgical Services.
Required Qualifications
- BLS Provider obtained within 30 days of hire date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
- Surgical Tech credentialed from NCCT obtained prior to hire date OR NBSTSA credential obtained within 180 days of hire date
- Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience
