Job Summary
Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant in Open Heart Operating Room provides intra-operative support to physicians, including draping, suturing, clamping, and exposure of the surgical field, with potential robotics-assisted procedures. The role supports patient documentation, medication safety, and continuity of care, serves as a preceptor for new staff, and may take on-call duties. Requires Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology Program and Certification in Surgical Technology, plus Certification as Surgical First Assistant (CSFA); BLS certification is required; 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist First Assist is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows is expected.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology Program, or Military Training Program in Surgical Technology
- Certification in Surgical Technology
- Certification as Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)
- 2 Years minimum experience as Surgical Technologist First Assist preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
