Job Summary
Conduct pre-operative preparation by gathering, arranging, and sterilizing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies. Assist in patient positioning, site preparation, and dressing application while maintaining aseptic techniques. Pass instruments to the surgical team, operate specialized equipment, and ensure all devices function properly. Follow strict sterilization protocols to clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and supplies. Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to coordinate procedures and manage patient transfers. Document procedures, equipment usage, and patient information accurately while adhering to privacy regulations. Maintain the operating room environment by restocking supplies and disposing of biohazard waste.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from an accredited program
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile techniques
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to handle the fast-paced OR environment
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with the surgical team
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy equipment, and assist with patient transfers
- Attention to detail and adherence to strict infection control protocols
