Job Summary
Assure quality care within the Perioperative environment by anticipating, planning for, and responding to the needs of the patient, surgeon, and team members. Assist the surgeon in completing operations safely and expeditiously by providing exposure, maintaining hemostasis, and performing technical functions such as retracting and suturing. Maintain confidentiality regarding patients, families, coworkers, and physicians while demonstrating excellent communication skills and knowledge of specialized first assistant techniques.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or the equivalent GED
- Graduate from surgical assisting program accredited through ARC/STSA
- Certification for surgical first assistant obtained through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to lift 50 pounds; 100 pounds shared lifting
- Knowledge of specialized first assistant techniques, procedures and adequate equipment related to hemostasis, retracting and suturing
