Job Summary
Certified Surgical First Assistant supports the OR team by preparing surgical suites per surgeon preference cards, determining appropriate instruments and supplies, and maintaining aseptic technique. Assists with positioning patients, tissue manipulation, retraction, suction and irrigation, wound dressings, and securing drainage; performs instrument and count verification; supports time-out patient verification and safe medication handling. Maintains instrument prep, terminal sterilization readiness, and contributes to overall patient safety and comfort. Requires high school graduation (associates-level preferred), BLS, and multiple specialty certifications (SA-C, CSA, CSFA/CSurgical Technologist alternatives) with strong knowledge of surgical anatomy and procedures; proficient communication and basic computer skills are needed. Shift is PRN, day hours in Castle Rock, CO with AdventHealth. Education: High School Grad or Equiv [Required]; Associate [Preferred]. Work Experience: 2+ relevant work experience [Preferred]. Licenses: BLS [Required], SA-C [Required], CSA [Required], CSFA/CSA/CST/NBSTSA certifications as applicable [Required/Preferred]. - NBSTSA Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) [Required]
- State Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) [Required]
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
- Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
- Knowledge of Anatomy [Preferred]
- Completion of Certified Surgical First Assisting Program [Preferred]
- Previous first assistant experience related to the area of specialty [Preferred]
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
- Successful completion of accredited Surgical Technology Course [Preferred]
- Licenses and Certifications: NBSTSA CST or equivalent [Preferred]
