Job Summary
Position patients for optimal surgical exposure using stabilizing equipment while maintaining patient comfort and safety. Provide visualization of the operative site through tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation. Achieve hemostasis and assist with body plane closure, wound dressings, and drainage systems. Participate in surgical suite preparation and manage room cleanup, including removal of soiled carts and supplies. Requires BLS certification and NBSTSA, NCCSA, or ABSA credentialing. Full-time day schedule at Ascension, St. Vincent in Indianapolis.
Required Qualifications
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Surgical Assistant credentialed from the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience
- Associate's degree/Technical degree
- 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience
