Job Summary
Perform positioning, prepping, and draping of patients, provide hemostasis, and handle sutures and tissue under the direction of the operating surgeon. Assist with wound exposure and retracting during procedures, while also functioning as a Surgical Technologist when not First Assisting. Adhere to infection control standards and assist OR staff as requested. This full-time role includes a $20,000 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 relocation assistance for candidates moving from over 100 miles away. Schedule options include Monday through Friday shifts of 10 or 12 hours, with one set day off per week and weekend/holiday call rotation. Registration with the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners is required.
Required Qualifications
- Registration with the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners
- 1 year of relevant work experience
- Graduate of an approved specific discipline OR successful completion of a surgical assistant training program during the applicant's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States
- Certification from one of the listed issuers below: CSFA - Certified Surgical First Assistant - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Certification from one of the listed issuers below: CSA - Certified Surgical Assistant - National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA)
- Certification from one of the listed issuers below: CSA- Certified Surgical Assistant - National Commission for Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA)
- Certification from one of the listed issuers below: SA-C – Surgical Assistant-Certified - American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred experience in ortho, general, gyn, vascular, urology, bariatrics, plastics, spine, and head & neck
- Certification from one of the listed issuers below: NBSTSA CST – National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assistants, Certified Surgical Technologist
- Certification from one of the listed issuers below: NCCT – TS-C – National Center for Competency Testing, Tech In Surgery
