Job Summary
Review and analyze physicians' documentation to assign CPT, modifiers, and ICD-10 diagnosis codes while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and reimbursement policies. Analyze, code, and abstract information for diagnoses and procedures, obtain pathology reports from PowerChart, and enter data into the database. Correct TES and claim scrubber edits and resolve discrepancies on coding-related issues. This full-time, Monday-to-Friday role in Stony Brook, NY, requires a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or CPC certification and one year of surgical coding experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED
- Current Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Certification, CCS-P or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certification
- 1 year of physician surgical coding experience
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- 3 years of physician surgical coding experience
