Job Summary
Processing technician responsible for proper processing of equipment and instruments used in Surgical Services under supervision of Surgical Services Manager, RN Charge Nurse, and Surgical Technologist. Tasks include decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, maintaining processing logs, ensuring supplies and equipment are available, collaborating with surgical teams, supporting CQI and cost-containment efforts, and staying current with safety and procedural protocols. Requires BLS certification within 30 days, prior healthcare experience, and day-shift, full-time schedule with on-call rotations. Emphasis on accurate records, inventory control, teamwork, and ongoing education.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prev health care/hospital work experience
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification after 30 days
- In-house training on care and handling of surgical services equipment/instruments
