Job Summary
Monitor PAR levels of surgical instruments and supplies, clean and sterilize all surgical instruments, and assist physicians with instrumentation during surgical interventions. Participate in staff meetings and performance improvement activities while working under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Maintain knowledge of instrument counts, isolation techniques, and terminal cleaning procedures, and demonstrate specific technical surgical skills. This role requires a Certified Scrub School graduate or one year of on-the-job experience. The position offers hourly compensation ranging from $24.00 to $35.00 based on skill and experience, with eligibility for a 401(k) plan with employer match.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the Center
- Must demonstrate the knowledge of the principle of growth and development of the life span
- Must demonstrate the ability to assess data reflective of the patients requirements relative to his/her age specific needs
- Must demonstrate the ability to provide the care needed as described in the Centers policies and procedures
- Knowledge of instruments and surgical techniques
- Knowledge of instrument and needle counts
- Knowledge of isolation techniques and terminal cleaning of surgical instruments and rooms
- Demonstrates knowledge of specific technical surgical skills
- Functions within the position description and within the scope of employee/patient relationship
- Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of approved Certified Scrub School with certification or one (1) year of on the job experience
