Job Summary
Deliver and manage evidence-based respiratory care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders, including evaluating and administering therapeutic and diagnostic therapies and consulting with physicians on care plans. Responsibilities span a diverse case mix such as adult cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, heart and lung transplantation, interstitial lung disease, and neonatal care when applicable. Independent ventilator protocol management and weaning from mechanical respiratory support are core duties, with opportunities to treat a wide range of patients across acute and neonatal environments. The role requires graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, licensure as an LRT in Alabama, NBRC CRT certification or eligibility with certification obtained within one year, and BCLS. The position is offered within full-time shifts (AM/PM 12-hour blocks) at UAB Medicine, a large health system providing comprehensive care and benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
- Licensed as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) with the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy (ASBRT) required
- Currently certified or eligible to be certified as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- If eligible to be certified, must obtain certification within one (1) year from date of hire
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
