Job Summary
Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders by initiating therapeutic procedures and operating respiratory equipment. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with quality control standards for arterial blood gas analyzers and specimen analysis. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team while instructing clinical practicum students on age-appropriate care principles. Demonstrate expertise in medical gas administration, humidification, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Maintain licensure as a Certified Respiratory Therapist and current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from an approved Respiratory Care program
- Eligible for the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) exam per NBRC guidelines
- Basic computer/mechanical training
- License as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
- Licensed by the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy
- Active status with the NBRC (for CRT's registered on or after July 1, 2002, updated every five years)
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
- Advanced Life Support as appropriate per unit and site
- Eligible for the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) exam per NBRC guidelines
