Job Summary
Provide anesthesia care to patients across various anesthetizing locations throughout the hospital, including pre-anesthetic assessments, interpretation of lab data, and development of anesthetic plans. Select and administer anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and blood products while verifying equipment operation and managing induction, maintenance, and emergence. Collaborate with the medically directing anesthesiologist to communicate patient changes, modify anesthesia plans, and facilitate operating room capacity and case flow. Ensure infection control, promote patient safety initiatives, and train learners including residents, fellows, and student nurses. Participate in clinical research projects and ongoing quality improvement activities as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a prescribed curriculum from an accredited school of anesthesia by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists [AANA]
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing
- Holds current license in good standing to practice as a CRNA in the state of Oregon
- Maintains appropriate continuing education credits for CRNA re-certification as defined by the AANA and the council on recertification of nurse anesthetists
- Holds current BLS and ACLS certification
- Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law and associated professional practice standards
- Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software
- Regular and consistent attendance at work
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as a member of an anesthesia care team
- Demonstrates reliability, integrity and honesty
- Possesses the motivation to continuously improve the quality of care and the work environment throughout OHSU and the Hospital
