Job Summary
Certified Prosthetist Orthotist (CPO) evaluates, designs, and fits prosthetic and orthotic devices for patients with limb loss, disabilities, or musculoskeletal issues. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, fabrication and fitting of custom devices, monitoring fit and function, educating patients on device use and maintenance, documenting evaluations and progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Requires ABC or BOC certification, NJ licensure, and completion of an accredited orthotics and prosthetics program with an NCOPE residency. Travel to patient care sites is at least 40% of the time. Strong knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, gait analysis, Medicare criteria, HIPAA compliance, and CAD/CAM software is a plus. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics and NCOPE residency completed. Edison, NJ location; must be able to travel to patient facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Certification by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthist (ABC) or Board of Certification (BOC)
- Licensed to practice as a CPO in New Jersey (or ability to obtain licensure)
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics from a CAAHEP-accredited program
- Completion of an NCOPE-accredited residency program
- Experience preferred: 2-3 years as a CPO with prosthetic and orthotic care expertise
