Job Summary

Design and implement education and behavior training programs aligned with the organization's mission. Plan and conduct group training sessions for the public, including puppy and adult dog classes, emphasizing positive reinforcement and socialization. Develop tailored training plans for families considering surrender, foster caregivers, and newly adopted dogs to ensure successful transitions and reduce shelter intakes. Collaborate with shelter staff and leadership to report on program progress and partner with marketing to create educational content for outreach. This role supports the Humane Society for Southwest Washington's goal of keeping pets and people together through community-based behavior support.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT)
  • Proficiency in addressing behavioral challenges (e.g., reactivity, anxiety, resource guarding)
  • Leading group training classes
  • Strong ability to convey training concepts to diverse audiences in both individual and group settings
  • Valid driver's license with HSSW insurable driving record
  • Motor Vehicle Records Check
