Job Summary
Certified Phlebotomy Technician Lab Assistant II collects blood specimens and handles/processes specimens for laboratory testing. Performs patient registration/test order entry, specimen accessioning, and post-analytic tasks such as report distribution and storage/retrieval of specimens. Maintains quality through documentation, clean and safe work areas, and timely escalation of priority work. Utilizes basic pre-analytic lab equipment and adheres to local/state/federal regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety. Responsibilities include interacting with diverse patients, managing workflow, and supporting a collaborative laboratory environment. Schedule is full-time with variable days and rotating weekends; PTO/benefits described; location-based in Mountain View or San Jose, CA.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma: High School or General Education Diploma (GED)
- CPTI-Certified Phlebotomy Technician I OR CPT II-Certified Phlebotomy Technician II
- 1 year recent relevant experience
- Knowledge and practice of standard principles, processes, procedures, and equipment related to: 1) ordering Laboratory testing, 2) collecting blood specimens, 3) compassionate interaction with patients, 4) handling and processing biological specimens
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of diverse ages and backgrounds
- Ability to respond to fluctuations in volume, equipment issues, hand-offs, STAT orders, specimen integrity issues
- Adherence to local/state/federal regulations, policies, and procedures for patient privacy and safety
- Ability to follow standard practices and procedures and to work in a collaborative setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment with current, factual information
