Job Summary
Phlebotomy Technician performs specimen collection and labeling for routine and special procedures, ensuring proper patient identification, sample integrity, and timely transport within an acute laboratory setting. Responsibilities include accessioning specimens, collecting venipuncture and capillary samples from patients of all ages, handling urine and toxicology collections, and preparing specimens for urinalysis, 24-hour urine, microbiology, and related testing per SOPs. Must meet a high school diploma or equivalent, hold phlebotomy certification (CA CPT I/II), complete an approved phlebotomy training program, maintain AHA CPR/BLS, and have 1+ year of recent patient service/phlebotomy experience (2-3 years preferred in acute care). Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency (i.e. CPT I/II licensing in California)
- Completion of an approved phlebotomy training course (or equivalent)
- American Heart Association (AHA) CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS)
