Job Summary
Perform routine blood draws and ensure specimen centrifugation and storage requirements are maintained through the pre-analytical process. Deliver samples to lab technical testing departments for analysis while verifying and documenting patient demographics, insurance information, lab orders, and provider details in the EMR system. Interact with patients and customers in a courteous and professional manner, assist in maintaining lab and clinic supplies inventory, and adhere to safety regulations and procedure manuals. Must be willing to travel to Tuscaloosa and Cahaba Heights locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong work ethic and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven experience as a phlebotomist
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Strict adherence to safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniques
- Must be willing to travel to Tuscaloosa & Cahaba Heights locations as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Phlebotomy Technician certification or license
- Medical Assistant Certification
- One year of inpatient phlebotomy experience in an acute care setting
- Dermatology experience
- EHR/EMR experience, specifically ModMed/EMA
