Job Summary
Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting patrons, answering telephone inquiries, and handling non-pharmacist inquiries. Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription medications, affixing labels, submitting insurance claims, and processing cash transactions. Accept written and telephoned refill orders, gather patient information, and file dispensed prescriptions. Order and stock pharmacy supplies, maintain dispensing area cleanliness, and administer vaccines as allowed by law. Report medication errors and adhere to strict guidelines regarding hazardous drugs and HIPAA confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed, through a national certification program, as a pharmacy technician
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), and field of vision
- Ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems
- Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
- Must be able to compose original correspondence
- Must be able to follow technical manuals
- Must be able to have increased contact with people
- Must be able to interview counsel or advise people

- Must have daily contact with customers, general public, and suppliers/vendors
- Must have occasional contact with community or trade/professional organizations and federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies
- Must acknowledge that exposure to hazardous drugs may cause acute and chronic effects
- Must complete a pre employment drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk
