Job Summary
Process medication orders from prescribers and agents by selecting, assembling, and preparing drugs for inpatient and outpatient services. Accept written, faxed, electronic, and authorized verbal prescription orders, then enter data into electronic health records. Ensure accurate billing charges, stock and retrieve medications, perform non-sterile and sterile compounding, and operate robotic dispensing systems. Transport medications to off-site locations, check associate work prior to dispensing, and assist in precepting new technicians.
Required Qualifications
- CPhT Certification provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification
- registration with State Board of Pharmacy
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of ASHP/ACPE tech training program
- pharmacy technician training via Armed Forces/Veterans Affairs
- respective state department approved career tech high school program
