Job Summary
Process medication orders by selecting, assembling, and preparing drugs for inpatient and outpatient services, including accepting written, faxed, electronic, and verbal prescriptions. Enter data into electronic health records, ensure accurate billing charges, and prepare labels while stocking inventory and operating drug dispensing robotics. Perform non-sterile and sterile drug compounding, transport medications to off-site locations, and assist in educating new technicians and students. Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to state board regulations. Requires CPhT certification, state driver's license, and high school diploma.
Required Qualifications
- CPhT certification provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification
- registration with State Board of Pharmacy
- Valid state driver's license
- High School Diploma or GED
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of ASHP/ACPE tech training program
- pharmacy technician training via Armed Forces/Veterans Affairs
- respective state department approved career tech high school program
- Previous experience working in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion pharmacy
