Job Summary
Provide assistance with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, walking and feeding the client according to the established care plan. Assist with certain treatments and therapy as ordered by the physician and approved by the nursing supervisor. Remind the client to take medications, document on the Aide Charting Sheet daily, and report changes in the client’s condition. Help with lifting/turning/transferring clients (up to 50 pounds) and provide emotional support to promote client independence. Maintain a safe environment, use medical supplies appropriately, and collaborate with the nursing supervisor and agency staff. May run authorized errands and assist with bill payment only when documented as authorized. Demonstrate empathy, communicate effectively, and uphold agency policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Must have a certificate from a Home Health Aide training program consistent with State requirements with evidence of ongoing in-service education to maintain the certificate.
- Must have the maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, the client's family and agency personnel.
- Have a sincere interest in and a sympathetic attitude towards caring for the sick and disabled.
- A HOME HEALTH AIDE MUST: Get along well with others.
- Be dependable and trustworthy.
- Maintain compliance with all agency policies and procedures.
- Maintain in-service requirements as specified in State and agency regulations.
- Enjoy working with others.
- Be a good listener, exhibit empathy for the sick, disabled and elderly, and be sensitive to the feelings of others.
- Be neatly dressed and have good personal hygiene habits.
- Maintain good health habits with regular physical and dental exams.
- Wear an identification badge while working.
