Job Summary
Peer Support Specialist I provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services, assists in creating a recovery environment, and acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of individuals. Responsibilities include engaging participants in recovery partnerships, teaching recovery and life skills, modeling hope and self-advocacy, developing natural supports and community living, coordinating with the clinical team to arrange services, completing required clinical documentation, and adhering to applicable regulations and policies. Requires Peer Employment Training certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, lived experience with mental health/substance use services, strong communication and de-escalation skills, ability to pass background checks and driving requirements where applicable, and willingness to work a pool of shifts including holidays. Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of Peer Employment Training thus obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
