Job Summary
Provide high-quality peer support services to adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges, acting as a positive role model and advocate. Assist members with treatment participation, develop coping skills, build independence, and strengthen community connections through individual and group support. Maintain clear documentation, connect members with community resources, and provide crisis intervention using agency-approved techniques. Facilitate groups, community integration activities, and educational sessions on medication awareness and relapse prevention. Transport members to groups and outings as needed while maintaining legal and ethical boundaries. Collaborate effectively with treatment teams, family members, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care.
Required Qualifications
- NC Certified Peer Support Specialist certification
- At least 1–2 years of experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges
- Minimum of 2 consecutive years of personal recovery
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Current auto insurance
- Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screening
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the 12 Core Functions
- Ability to read, write, and complete clear and accurate documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and credentialing requirements
