Job Summary
Serves as an active member of the client’s treatment team, assisting clients in the development of recovery plans and providing education and resources about recovery and wellness. Implements recovery plans, connects clients to resources, and advocates on their behalf. Requires 2 years of experience as an adult peer support specialist, certification as defined by Kentucky BHDID, and temporary registration with the KY Alcohol and Drug Counselor’s Board.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Adult Peer Support Specialist as defined by the Kentucky BHDID.
- Active Temporary Registration with KY Alcohol and Drug Counselor’s Board.
- Two years' experience as a Peer Support Specialist and/or leading recovery groups or programs.
- Attest to one year recovery as defined by KY Alcohol & Drug Counselor regulations.
- Maintains continuing education requirements and required training documentation in record management systems to maintain Certification and becomes Registered Alcohol & Drug Peer Support Specialist within nine months of employment.
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred two (2) years in recovery.
- Good interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of applicable population group and principles/philosophy of recovery.
Additional Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Eighteen years of age or older.
- SOAR passed within 90 days of employment.
- HMIS training completed within 90 days of employment.
