Job Summary
Develop and implement Individual Recovery Plans for persons with serious mental illness by engaging families and professional staff in the recovery process. Provide person-centered support that facilitates access to community resources, addresses basic needs, and encourages involvement in work, school, and social activities. Deliver structured therapeutic activities including crisis support, individual advocacy, and wellness maintenance while educating others on stigma and recovery principles. Maintain strict adherence to federal, state, and agency policies regarding confidentiality and ethics.
Required Qualifications
- Self-identifies personal experience with Serious Mental Illness and mental health or co-occurring services
- Has a high school diploma or GED
- Must successfully complete and pass a Peer Specialist Certification Training Program in accordance with DPW guidelines
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills in peer support and recovery principles, values, and practice through participation in county-approved certified peer specialist orientation/training/professional development programs
- Has maintained, within the last three (3) years, at least 12 months of successful full or part-time paid or voluntary work experience or one year of post-secondary education experience totaling 24 credit hours
- Must not be excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal health care programs
- Must successfully obtain Criminal History from the PA State Police, Child Abuse Clearance from the PA Department of Human Services, and FBI Fingerprint Clearances
