Job Summary
Collaborate with the clinical treatment team to review, analyze, and modify safety crisis plans for high-risk, clinically complex youth and families. Participate in child and family team assessments while relating personal recovery experience to build trust and increase hopeful engagement. Assess the youth and parent's ability to communicate their position, preferences, strengths, and needs, then reach agreements on functional strengths that contribute to healing. Coach self-management techniques, identify natural supports, and connect families to community resources for coordinated care. Provide peer support under clinician direction, attend required supervision and training, and uphold HIPAA privacy standards in office and home environments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be a self-identified consumer of mental health or substance use disorder treatment services in stable recovery for at least one year
- Valid Washington State driver's license and required minimum liability insurance for WA State
- Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities' liability insurance provider
- Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration
- Peer Counselor or Peer Specialist certification through the Washington State Health Care Authority
- Certified Peer Support Specialist or Certified Peer Support Specialist Trainee credential from the Washington State Department of Health
- Completion of HCA sponsored Peer Crisis Training
- Completion of Trauma Informed Care training
- Completion of De-escalation Techniques training
- Completion of Harm Reduction training
- Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
- Ability to drive with adequate vision and skill
- Ability to stand, walk, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking and hearing on a regular basis
- Ability to work in an office environment, in family homes, in and about the community
- Regular working hours may occur any day of the week or time of the day
Desired Qualifications
- At least two years' experience providing peer services
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
