Job Summary
Assess, treat and care for patients with pulmonary disorders; responsible for the clinical administration of all therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care modalities offered by the department; operates and sets up devices such as mechanical ventilators and gas administration; provides emergency care including artificial ventilation and CPR; monitors and analyzes arterial blood gases; follows physician orders and evaluates treatment requirements; collaborates with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals as part of the patient care team; adheres to safety policies and conducts duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program
- Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Texas Medical Board
- NBRC credential as Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) AFTER July 1, 2002
- BLS upon hire and ACLS within 90 days of employment
