Job Summary
Process weekly certified payroll for prevailing wage construction projects and support regular company payroll as needed. Prepare Certified Payroll Reports accurately on time while ensuring compliance with California Prevailing Wage, DIR reporting, and Davis-Bacon regulations. Review payroll records for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with field supervisors regarding timecards. Support internal and external labor compliance audits and maintain confidential employee records. Cross-train within the accounting department for coverage and continuously monitor changing labor laws. This on-site role in Bakersfield requires a detail-oriented professional with 3+ years of certified payroll experience to thrive in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple construction projects.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of Certified Payroll experience
- Experience processing California Prevailing Wage payroll
- Strong understanding of DIR compliance requirements
- Experience working in the construction industry
- Experience processing payroll for medium to large employee populations
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Overtime may be required during payroll processing and reporting deadlines
- This is an on-site position; remote work is not available
