Certified Patient Care Assistant Med Surg Oncology

Job Summary
Provide routine patient care on a 30-bed Med/Surg Oncology unit, assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining mobility, and supporting nutritional intake. Collect patient specimens and data (vital signs, input/output), document in medical records, and assist with transportation of specimens. Recognize and report changes in patient status to licensed professionals, and perform procedures under supervision (blood draws, Foley catheter removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring) with supplies and equipment as needed. Support unit operations with receptionist/clerical duties, maintain accurate patient records, and assist in charting and ordering supplies. May help with transporting patients and OR turnover, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care. Requires high school diploma/GED, current BLS, and CNA licensure in state of practice; 1 year of medical clerical or hospital experience preferred; strong organizational and communication skills; familiarity with medical terminology and computer systems. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Current BLS certification is required
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice is required for new hires (in Tucson: CNA required; existing Tucson incumbents may not transfer out without meeting CNA requirement)
- 1 year of medical clerical experience or prior experience in customer service preferred
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy
- ECG interpretation or related training/experience may be required as applicable
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card as applicable for certain Banner Health settings
- Arizona Criminal History Affidavit may be required at hire
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
