Certified Orthotic Fitter

Job Summary
The Certified Fitter fits and delivers prefabricated orthotic devices and works directly with patients to evaluate their needs, formulate a treatment plan, and provide follow-up care to ensure successful outcomes. Responsibilities include reviewing medical records, examining patients, documenting orthotic needs, and formulating prescriptions for upper and lower limb orthotics in collaboration with physicians and the orthotist. The role involves posting materials for orthotic records, instructing patients on device usage and care, and coordinating with orthotists, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and vocational counselors. On-call duties are assigned as scheduled. Work locations include homes, schools, clinics, and hospital settings within the service area; candidates must have a normal or corrected range of hearing and eyesight and the ability to drive within the service area. A valid Michigan driver’s license and credentialing with local hospitals are required.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Fitter by ABC or BOC
- Eligibility to be credentialed with local hospitals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional appearance and multitasking ability
- Manual dexterity; ability to perform bending, lifting, and handling orthotic construction equipment
- Valid Michigan driver’s license and automobile insurance
