Job Summary

Conduct physician exam work-ups, perform ancillary testing, biometries, and glasses checks, and manage surgical instrument preparation and maintenance. Provide patient communication, pre- and post-operative teaching, telephone triage, and educational assistance to patients, students, and staff. Order supplies including IOLs, instruments, and medications while maintaining exam room stocking and cleaning standards. Adhere to documentation requirements per physician expectations and all regulatory accreditation standards. Requires Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification, BLS certification, and 3-5 years of ophthalmology field experience.

Required Qualifications

  • CPR-BLS certification through American Heart Association
  • Certification as Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Ophthalmology field (i.e. as an Ophthalmic Assistant, COA)
  • Must adhere to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program
  • Must comply with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards
