Certified Ophthalmic Assistant

Job Summary
Obtain patient history, determine visual acuity, and perform automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposes. Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions as ordered by the physician. Conduct ocular imaging including OCT, Topography, and fundus photography while maintaining aseptic technique and preparing surgical instruments. Enter data into the EMR, measure intraocular pressure, and provide pre-operative and post-operative patient education. Maintain equipment and perform other related duties as required. This role reports to a Supervisor of Ophthalmic Operations within a specific clinic section. Shifts run 8:30a-4:00p.
Required Qualifications

- degree of independent decision-making
- Minimum of a High School diploma or general education degree
- Minimum of one year of experience in an Ophthalmology practice
- JCAHPO Ophthalmic Certification (COA,COT,COMT)
- (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association
- Lifting 50 lbs. max
- Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional to frequent standing & walking
- Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
- Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators
