Job Summary
Certified Operator Trainee role with Sperry Rail Service focusing on Rail Flaw Detection (RFD) in a high-travel, field-based environment across Canada. Trainees receive paid, hands-on training at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection in Connecticut, then perform field work while developing into a Certified Professional Operator. Responsibilities include learning rail detection methods, achieving ultrasonic testing certification, operating testing platforms, potentially leading a crew, and adhering to railroad operating procedures and safety protocols. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or CAEC required
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid passport (required for training in the U.S.)
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to multitask and work with tools/equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and DOT physical (where applicable)
